When did you decide to develop this app?
Last fall. We decided we wanted to create holiday-themed coloring books for our younger children. We wanted them to be bright and cheery with holiday music and easy to use with a good variety of pictures.

When did you first release this app?
December last year 2011

How long did it take you to develop this app?
This was actually the second app in the line. The first one was for Halloween. That took about 4 months to develop. Coloring Christmas took about two months after that.

What is your favourite feature? iPhone Screenshot 3 The large selection of colors and Christmas patterns allows for a large variety of options for the kids. They like making many variations of each. We also have a large selection of pictures so it keeps them busy for quite a while. I mainly like that it is very cheery and tends to bring a smile to faces.

What skills were you hoping to help the end user to develop? (eg fine motor, reasoning, education – maths, reading, social)?
Originally I just wanted it to be fun and relaxing. However I’ve been contacted by several parents telling me their children with autism or fine motor skills issues really enjoyed it and found it easy to use. That has been the most rewarding part. I had one parent tell me that it allowed their child to make them a birthday card for the first time.

What age range would this app most suit? iPhone Screenshot 4 It’s definitely a good coloring app for younger kids 2-6, up to 8 but even adults seem to get a kick out of it.

What other apps are you working on?
We are planning to create coloring books for other holidays and are looking at coming out with a few early education ones as well. Right now we are collecting feedback to see what will be most popular.
