State Bingo game:
Play State Bingo, solve state riddles and navigate a beautifully illustrated map of USA. Win to help Pep send a state to statehood. Fun animations during game play. Know your state facts to cruise along. Feeling adventurous? Answer questions based on state shapes in the hard level.

Road Trip US game:
Travel east, travel west and move Pep the car on the map. Reach the destination state before all your tires go flat. Pick one of three random state neighbors to drive to. Answer at least one question to move Pep to the next state. Beware of dead-ends on the road trip. 3 levels of game play. Drive along historic trails like Lewis and Clark.

When did you decide to develop this app?
We are big fans of travel and geography at home. It has been fun, taking cross country road trips. We have wanted to build a geography game for a very long time. That’s how we decided to create State Bingo and Road Trip US.

When did you first release this app?

State Bingo and Road Trip US launches Dec-13th-2012 for the iPad

How long did it take you to develop this app?
We spent a lot of time prototyping on paper, making cardboard games and flushing out the idea before coding the game. It took us almost 6 months to develop the app.

What is your favourite feature?

I really like solving the state riddles and winning the game be it State Bingo or Road Trip US. Sending states to statehoods is fun and addicting. Also like the fact that I am catching up on history, while playing a geography game.

What is your favourite page in the app?
My favorite page in the app is the beautifully illustrated map of the US. I enjoy looking for answer clues on the map. The unique topography and artifacts of each state depicted really draw me towards the map.

What skills were you hoping to help the end user to develop?

Map reading and navigation, critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving

Are any new updates coming soon?

Future updates of State Bingo and Road Trip US will make the app available on the iPhone and iPod touch. Also we plan to add the ability to customize Pep the car, user profiles and more content. Also any feedback users may have.

Review:

Great fun app for teaching children American geography and interesting information about the States.  You have a choice of 2 games.  State Bingo and Road Trip U.S., then My Statehoods

State Bingo – based on the traditional game of bingo.  You have a choice of Easy, Medium or Hard and the game begins.  You are presented with range of questions from unscrambling letters, geography,  etc. which you have to answer.  Once you get 4 correct in a line that is either horizontal, vertical or diagonal you win.

Road Trip US – you have a choice of Easy, Medium or Hard questions again.  Then you get to pick a road trip Eastbound, Westbound, Lewis and Clark Trail (Illionis to Oregon), Oregon Trail (Missouri to Oregon) or the Pony Express Trail (Missouri to California).  This was so much fun, getting to pick which state to go to next.  I can imagine many children wanting to go on a real adventure with this app.

A few things I loved about this app was the amount of content, great information which is taught in a really fun way.  Also,  if you make a mistake it was done gently, a sad look on the cars face and the sound of a deflating tyre for the Road Trip or a simple sound and a ‘x’ if you got the answer wrong for the State Bingo, you then select again for another question. The music is just great, so fun and uplifting.
