Super Readers is a fun and innovative controlled vocabulary educational reading fluency app designed to help your child become a better reader.

Super Readers is comprised of 10 vocabulary controlled stories that are differentiated by the reading levels: End of Kinder, Middle of First, End of First, and Beginning of Second. Within each unique, interactive story, your young reader will be encouraged and supported in their new reading skill.

When did you decide to develop this app?
Jorge and I decided to develop the Super Readers app in August 2011.  Jorge has developed other game apps and wanted to shift gears and work on developing an educational app.  He and I paired up and we created the controlled vocabulary reading app that is now Super Readers.

When did you first release this app?
Super Readers was just released for the first time December 2012.  This is a brand new, innovative and unique reading fluency app.  What makes it unique and innovative is that it is sight words based and controlled vocabulary so that young readers will experience reading fluency success with our app.

How long did it take you to develop this app?
Super Readers, from start to finish, took us about a year.

What is your favourite feature?
My personal favorite feature of this app is the option to record your voice with immediate playback.  The best way to develop fluency is for the reader to hear himself read and with the capability of listening to his own voice, this makes a great teaching tool.  Plus, parents can also listen to their child’s recording to monitor their child’s progress and growth.

What is your favourite page in the app?
I have a lot of favorite pages in the Super Readers app, but one of my favorites is in the Kinder stories.  It is the page that has the cat at the top of the slide and the reader is able to control the ball and even place it at the top of the slide and watch it roll down.  It’s fun!

What skills were you hoping to help the end user to develop?
The skill that the user will develop and master is reading fluency.  Fluency is a hard skill to master and it takes a lot of reading out loud practice.  Reading fluency is comprised of accuracy, pace, and expression.  As reading fluency develops, so does reading comprehension.  When the child has an inflection in their voice and they use expression, then they understand what they are reading.

What age range would this app most suit?
Super Readers is made for young readers, so this is for children ages 5-7.  However, if you have a child who is an early reader, then Super Readers would be good for them to practice reading their sight words.

Are any new updates coming soon?
As of right now, we do not have any new updates planned.
