When did you decide to develop this app?
I decide to develop this app a few months ago after seeing how much fun my 3-year old son was having with book apps on the iPad. I decided to create a little storybook to encourage learning and counting to 10 (he always struggle with remembering 7 and or 8)
When did you first release this app?
I released this app just before Christmas
How long did it take you to develop this app?
The illustration component had be in the works for sometime August 2012 I think and then I spent around a 11 weeks studying for a certificate IV in small business management as a part the NEIS program, this course finished in late October and straight after it finished I release another app I had been working on, E is for Elephant a silhouette alphabet app book.
I then worked on designing and implementing Cutie Monsters, which took around two months.
What is your favourite feature?
My favourite feature is the “touch read words” mode it’s a simple version of text highlighting and narration that works well for young children learning to read.
What is your favourite page in the app?
My favourite page is where “Growly has six sticky fingers” Its was one of the first I created in my design mock ups.
What skills were you hoping to help the end user to develop?
Cutie Monsters covers shape and pattern matching, fine motor stills and early reading, observation and listening skills.
What age range would this app most suit?
I have done some user testing at a local Kindergarten and have user tested with friends children and my own. I found that sharing the book with a child can been done at almost any age from 12 months to 4 years of age. The puzzles require some fine motor and reasoning skills that are better suited to 3 and 4 year olds.
Are any new updates coming soon?
I have another puzzle app Retro Robots that I’ve started working on and when that is release I will be updating Cutie Monsters will two new jigsaw puzzles, new music track and more fun interactive elements, maybe a mini game.
