Tinkr Math is a game that kids can play on the go, combining education with fun. Answer 10 math questions correctly, and your child helps the sailor bring his boat to shore with whale sightings and shark encounters along the way. A correct answer invites a friendly whale to visit. An incorrect answer: watch out for the shark! Two incorrect attempts will prompt a learning aid which helps your child better understand how to solve the problem. Your child can choose between addition, subtraction, multiplication and division questions, and can adjust the games for difficulty. With all the fun adventures along the way, your child will improve their math skills effortlessly and enthusiastically.

When did you decide to develop this app?  In the Fall of 2011 is when I first start working on Tinkr Math.  I have two children and they were becoming more interested in the iPhone and iPod we have at home.  As I started looking at apps in the iTunes store, I found that there were a lot of games, and a lot of educational apps, but nothing that really blended the two to make learning more fun.

When did you first release this app?  Tinkr Math was released in January 2012.

How long did it take you to develop this app?  From start to finish it was about 3 months.  Lots of work to get it completed, but was a very rewarding experience.

What is your favourite feature?  Seeing the look on a child’s face when they see the animation and sounds when they get a math question correct is the feature and reaction I love the most.

What skills were you hoping to help the end user to develop? Improving math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

What age range would this app most suit? Girls and Boys aged 5-8.

Are any new updates coming soon?  At the moment we are working on an iPad app, hopefully to be released in the February or March timeframe.
