There are two different ways to achieve this “WOW”! Use the extensive in-app painting palette to paint the artwork in the app directly on your device. Or, you can use markers, crayons or pencils to color our special printed pages. Then take the iPad camera and show it your work of art and bring your very own picture directly into the app, then play with it in a 3D augmented reality world.

Once you have created your cat, play with him in his virtual playroom. Stroke and tickle him, and dress him up with special accessories you can customize from his closet. Play through the game to unlock other rooms, with more content to come soon.

Paint My Cat, by Nanu Interactive, brings coloring apps to a whole new level, it may ring in a new generation of coloring apps!  I think this app was as much fun for me as it was for my child. You start off by coloring the first page, with a choice of  80 colors and three brushes.  When, you have colored enough in, the “magic wand” on the page will start blinking.  When you tap this, your drawing come to life in 3 dimensions.  The cat initially only has yarn to play with, but that changes.  Plus, if you pet your cat, he or she purrs and makes cute little noises.  Once you have done the first room, you have unlocked the second room.  You complete the same process there, and your drawing magically comes to life with a “poof” of the magic wand!

 

The fun is not over at that point either. If your child is very creative or ambitious, you can print out special coloring pages from the developer’s webpage to work in Augmented Reality Mode.  Your child can color them with markers, crayons, or whatever they want. Then, you take a picture of the colored page with the app’s camera.  You will know when it is in the right spot when the cat appears on the screen.  Take note that, once you unlock the rooms for this mode, you need to use the printed pictures in order.  In other words, your child colors the ball, you take the picture, then that unlocks the next picture.  It is very neat for your child to see their creation in the app itself!

The graphics are not phenomenal, but given the fact that most coloring pages are 2D, this app is amazing on that level alone.  Plus, the app is not difficult to use, and I see kids loving it.  Not to mention the fact that you cannot beat the price.  I have to admit that I may be enjoying as much as my child.  It really is a fun app!
