Description

I Spy with Lola is a fun, bright, cheerful and entertaining app for Kids. The app is easy to use and understand, with clear instructions on-page from Lola the very friendly Panda.

With a brilliant maths-based lock to access the language change menu, it is unlikely that your child will accidentally get into the settings or ‘about’ sections, or the app store! Phew!

Colourful and child friendly images and instructions guide your child to the game, allowing them to choose a level suitable to their development. Through game-play your child will unlock the medium and hard levels so they don’t advance too fast.

As the child plays, they are prompted to interact with the screen by “I Spy’ing” objects within the picture. With cute little animations to keep the child engaged and entertained, your child will master and move around the world map, unlocking levels, exploring environments, and increasing their vocabulary.

This app was played by me (mummy) as well as my son 4(Aspergers) and boys 3, 7 and girls 4 and 5 (PDD-NOS) all whom LOVED the game, and were entertained. I will certainly be looking for more Apps by this developer, certainly if they continue to use the loveable Lola Panda.

Why did you decide to develop this app?
-The game of I Spy is such a childhood favourite, my kids still play it in the back-seat of the car every now and then. We decided to study it a bit more to understand why it is so popular. The more we studied the concept the more we liked the idea of making similar games but with educational twist.

What is your favourite page in the app?
-My favourite page on the app is the Yellowstone location. It has a simple structure and catchy music that makes it stand out from each of the other locations within the app.

What is your favourite feature?
-We’ve included a cute feature that takes a picture of Lola with an animal from that location once all of the clues have been completed. The picture is different for each spot on the map and incorporates some creative elements that are really funny to see.

When did you first release this app?
– We launched the app on October 26th 2012 to App Stores around the world

Are any new updates coming soon?
-We just released an update adding Argentina to the places you can travel. Coming in mid Dec we’ll be including a 6th location so be sure to keep an eye out for this update!

How long did it take you to develop this app?
-We began development over a year ago and are continuing to develop new aspects every day. Each of the new locations are almost like a new game in and of itself as they all have spoken instructions, specifically composed music and dozens of objects to find making the process of development a bit longer.

What age range would this app most suit?
-The great thing about I Spy with Lola is that it’s suitable for such a large range of players, 3-8 years old. Each level is aimed for a specific range, for example, the easy level is perfect for 3-5 year olds, medium is suited for 4-6 year olds and hard challenges players ages 5-8.
