While thinking of eggs at Easter, Oceanhouse Media has just updated Horton Hatches the Egg-Dr. Seuss. It is a great story all about virtue and of course contains all of the original, clever, whacky and imaginative details of Dr. Seuss! Just like Oceanhouse Media’s other omBooks, the interactive pages, great narration, highlighted words, and sound effects make Horton Hatches the Egg- Dr. Seuss another fun book to add to your digital collection!

In Horton Hatches the Egg, a very lazy, selfish bird by the name of Mayzie persuades the friendly Horton the elephant to sit on her egg. He agrees to do it even though he is substantially bigger than the egg. Throughout the season and weather changes (while Mayzie is still on vacation,) Horton is teased and taunted by his friends in the jungle. So what becomes of Horton the trustworthy Elephant as well as the egg? This Dr. Seuss omBook is a perfect short story to read to your class/children all about virtue. When I finished the book with my preschooler, she was reciting over and over, “I meant what I said, And I said what I meant…..An elephant’s faithful One hundred per cent!

Just like Oceanhouse Media’s other omBooks, you have the options to “Read to Me” (reader turns the pages, sees the words highlighted as they are read by a professional narrator) “Read it Myself,” (like a book where you turn the pages and read on your own with sound effects in the background,) or “Auto Play” (like a movie especially good for the younger audience.) And now Oceanhouse Media also has the special feature “Record your own voice” to their omBooks, as another option to listening to the omBooks with the great narrator.

Kind-hearted Horton the elephant is persuaded to sit on an egg while its mother, the good-for-nothing bird lazy Maysie flutters off on a vacation. Horton is teased and taunted by his jungle friends, “How Absurd! Old Horton the Elephant thinks he’s a bird!” He’s captured by hunters, even placed in a traveling circus, but he keeps his promise and protects the egg. When runaway Maysie stumbles upon the traveling circus and demands her egg back, something incredible and unexpected occurs teaching children that virtue earns a reward!
