I am the mother of a preschooler who is familiar of all her letters and sounds. In fact, she has decided to be a teacher like me as she is currently teaching the letters and sounds to her baby sister. In Deedil’s app, Letters Flash Cards ABC, each letter of the alphabet is written with its uppercase and lowercase letters as well as a picture of an object starting with that letter.  The developer has also added the spelling of the picture.  The letter and then word are verbally pronounced.

My preschooler is practicing her tracing skills, as well as how to write her numbers and letters.  So this app can help any child learning their letters as well as words that begin with each letter.  It’s always nice to have these in digital form rather than in workbook style where teachers/parents continuously have to make new copies for practicing.  My preschooler found it much easier to trace the letters with the help of a stylus, but one is not necessary to successfully trace and write.

The activity pages provide the learner to write both uppercase and lowercase letters. The user can choose from five different colored crayons to write with. There are also matching pages to match a letter to a word starting with that same letter. And there is a page of handwriting paper to practice letters without tracing. One can Share, Print, or Save the work on the Activity pages.

As a teacher, I would recommend the developer make an extra few pages for practicing tracing uppercase and lowercase letters separately. Some teachers/parents choose to teach the uppercase at a separate time from the lowercase. So mixing them together is fine, but I would just add a couple of extra activity pages to specifically designate to the uppercase and lowercase letters in case they are not taught at the same time – or if a child needs specific practice on one or the other.
