photo copy 2“Wubbzy’s – The Night Before Christmas”, by Cupcake Digital, is not your standard Christmas apps for kids!  It is chocked full of Christmas fun for your kids!   For younger kids, it is a very entertaining, as well as very interactive, take on The Night Before Christmas, featuring Wubbzy and his friends.  There is something to keep your child’s attention on every page of this app!  I was pleasantly surprised, as I thought my son had grown out of his Wubbzy phase, but maybe not when it comes to this app. This app is also useful for children working on following directions, fine motor skills, and listening skills.  I would recommend it for those with children from the ages of approximately 4 to 7.

When you first look at this app, you and your child have multiple options to read the story.  In the “just a book” mode, there is no sound, so you can have a quiet experience with your child with the app, if that
is what you are looking for.  If you turn on “read to me” mode, the story is not only narrated with highlighted words, but your child can also play the games.  If you choose “read and play”, your child does the reading, and can enjoy the games that are throughout the story.  When in the story, you flip from one page to the next in the typical manner with the arrow at the top of the page, but can your child can touch the flag to get to reach the menu at any time to change their experience with the app. In the menu, under pages, your child can skip to their favorite pages without having flipping through the entire app to find them, as well as see a few videos of Wubbzy, play the games that are throughout the app, and easily paint various Christmas Wubbzy

pictures that can be saved to the camera role on your iPad.  As far as settings go, under options, you
can adjust the volume for the background music, the sound as well as the voice of the narrator.  At the very end of the app, there is a “Grown-Up” Corner with ideas on how to talk about the story with your child, which also includes ideas to help your child to think about this story.
I must say, this app is one of the biggest surprises of the year, especially for the price
and I would highly recommend it.
